Plays for MNF

After one of our better plays Thursday nite we served up a stinker for SNF. It just goes to show you that last year's performances are not applicable to this year's athletes. We remember the days when Aaron Rodgers would stand up to the pressure with the best of them.

Again, nothing much to go on for this game. We like many of the moves Pederson made in the offseason, including installing Carson Wentz at QB. We are looking forward to seeing the kid in the spotlight. It looks like it's going to be wet in Chitown, tonite. We have the points (the odds at 3 are even money) so we won't be too upset if the weather dominates.

They are expecting some kind of protest tonite among of the Eagles players. Is it us, or does it seem that NFL teams perform better when they protest the flag? Maybe their opponents sympathize and refuse to oppress them during the game. If that's the case, the Eags can sleep through the anthem for all we care.

Plays for Sunday Night

We've said in the past that a flash touchdown always determines the spread winner. Imagine our delight when the Jets overcame not one, but two Buffalo flash TDs to earn us the HIT Thursday. That doesn't happen. It does say something about what a good play it was. In fact, even though we said it wasn't much to go on, identifying and predicting the Time of Possession as the key to the game was spot on. As the 4th quarter approached, the Bills defense had already played a full game's worth of minutes and had little resistance left for the last 15:00.

Hate Packers/Vikes games. We're expecting Green Bay to crowd the line when the Vikes have the ball. We hate to bet against players, but we don't think Bradford can fully exploit the thin secondary.

Plays for Thursday Night

OK. We made it back from Vegas. Try as we may to slow it down that town did get the better of us. Vegas moves at its own pace.

We were pleased at the outcome of the opener, although that O/U play turned out to be a flat 50/50 bet on a long FG. We can't really take credit for that one (it's like betting on a coin flip) but we have to take the cash. It's the rules.

Another game that's tough to call, especially as we wait for our mathematical system to kick in in Week 05, but this should be a good, good matchup. Both of these teams are similar in concept, with a patient offense and "contain" defense, and both teams return their major organizational and physical personnel . While both teams lost competitive games, the Jets did a little better at Time of Possession last week, winning that battle nearly 35 minutes to 25. The Bills actually lost the battle of possession. We don't often fixate on Time of Possession but in this case, with these two teams style, we think whoever has the ball most will win this one. Our guess - and it's not much to go on - is that the Jets will win the possession battle based on last week's, start-of-season performance. It should be a perfect night for football.
