Plays for SNF

We think there's a scenario where the Vikes take control of the Pack, we're hoping they don't do it tonite. Earlier this season the Pack faced a Viking team on a roll and schemed them to death with a run blitzing D. That shouldn't work, but it did. This time the Pack is at home. Over the course of the season, Green Bay has become one of the top rushing teams in the league. Even if the Vikes do move the ball on the ground, the Pack may match them in the running game, and you have to believe Rodgers passing will put them over the top.

We were waiting on the spread for this one because the forecast was pointing away from us at 3 1/2. We even considered buying it down. The late action brought the spreead down a 1/2 point, even though we have to pay 115/10. The RECENT numbers give this one squarely to the Rams. The official forecast has the Rams shutting down the run somewhat and forcing the49ers to drop back, where the protection might not be so good.

Plays for Sunday

The last week of the season is always difficult to cap. Some teams want to win, some want to lose, others don't really care. Emotion comes into play a lot more than it does during the season. Even as we crunch the numbers, GRIDLINE doesn't deny emotion plays a significant part in the outcome of games. It's simply our philosophy that it shouldn't play ANY part. That every member of every team should play to the best of their ability for every second of every game. The more the players do that, the more accurate we can be.

Anyway, it's been a very successful season for us, and we're not about to give a whole lot back in a week where some teams are playing for playoff positions and others are playing for draft choices. You could say we're going out with a whimper, but it's in our best interest to move a little slow right now. We need to know how the Nooner's are doing before we go after the late games. Stay tuned while we try and figure this mess out. We still want to have action throughout the last day of the regular season.

Wow! Just, wow. These two teams read about as even as you can get, number-wise. Same records, same Total Offense - team and opponent, same tough schedule, even the same penalty rates. There's no playoff incentive or draft pick incentive here, it's just two hard-luck football teams duking it out for the win. In other words, it should be an excellent game. We might expect the homies to win with two evenly matched teams. The Bears have the edge running, the Lions passing. Weather conditions may affect the Lions' passing game, as might the pass rush. Both teams should apply pressure, but the Lions may see more pressure because they pass more. Also, the Bears actually seem to force punts every once in awhile, as compared to hoping the other team screws up. Not much to go on here, but it should be a regular game.
