SUPER BOWL XLVI

Plays for Sunday, February 5th, 2012

And now it's Super Bowl Sunday! Time for the Big Game. The culmination of the 2011 football season, of the playoffs, the culmination of ... everything. If you don't have a party to go to then find a nice bar. The guys yelling at the TV have money on the game. Probably too much. Get on another pool, have another beer. Spend the day watching the tube. It's Super Sunday! Nobody expects you to act like a solid citizen. Oh yeah, the game:

These are two of the top offenses in football going after two vulnerable defenses. We wish we could pick out a real advantage, but we can't. It looks to us like both defenses are going to be broken. Completely. Brady might be the best in the game, but Manning isn't far behind. With these two defenses, no lead is safe. You could have Brady breaking the SB record for passing, and then have Eli break it again.

This one will probably be about fumbles, interceptions and dropped passes but if everything evens out, it should be a matter of who has the ball last. It has the potential to be a real crowd pleaser.

Why not, we're expecting lots of offense. It's very rare for our computer system - or any system, really - to project over a thousand yards of Total Offense. That's science fiction stuff. We'll go with it.

Props are all over the place. You can bet on NFL players versus NBA players, whether or not Kelly Clarkson shows her midriff (Madonna is too easy), who wins the coin toss or even if they call heads or tails. We like to restrict our picks to what happens in the game.

Gotta love this one. We're looking for props that'll come in even if the score isn't right. This one can come in either way. In a low scorer they can't convert the first down and in a high scorer, they might not even see a third down.
3rd Down Conversions
UNDER 11 1/2

HIT: 11 3rd Down conversions

This is our favorite prop of all time. Everytime we've taken it we win, and the oddsmakers keep trying to catch up to us by upping the juice. It'll work eventually, right now it's a 13/10 prop, but we'll keep playing until it loses. The cute thing is that it's the scorekeepers who determine the length of a run, and if they see the line of scrimmage just inside the two yard line, they call it a one-yard run. We have hit this one on nearly two-yard runs before.
Shortest Scoring Play
UNDER 1 1/2 Yards

MISS: Manning to Cruz 2 yards

Fumbles occur naturally. The league average for two teams is closer to 2 than 1. They definitely affect the score, and might affect the spread. We hope they even out but if they don't we may still get this baby in. The cool thing about this prop is that it comes in at +145 odds, meaning someone who lays a lousy $20 bucks down wins $29. These guys are in the Super Bowl but we don't expect them to be Super men. One fumble per team would be fine.
Number of Fumbles
OVER 1 1/2

MISS: 0 Fumbles Total

We're sorry, we couldn't pass this one up. The forecast sees slightly better punt returns for the Giants even though it projects one more return for the Pats. The kicker was the +125 odds for the Giants. How they determined those odds we don't know, but even if we calculated the teams as even the odds would swing us this way.
Longest Punt Return

HIT: Giants Return 10 Yards

We're done for this season. It's going to be a long 7 months until the 2012 Season Opener. Hopefully, we'll be there. The plan is to redesign the system for Windows, and maybe distribute it a little. The game and the internet has changed so much since the turn of the century. In the meantime, we'll update the site every once in awhile. That, along with our strange behavior on Twitter should add a little to your entertainment. Until then, have fun and ...

Good Luck Everyone!
