HIT: Bucs 24 Colts 17

That was a wild and wooly game last night. No less than 5 tds on returns, must be some kind of record. It's almost as if we were talking about another uncappable game, but this one was a little different. If you take away those unpredictable scoring plays, your still left with the Ravens winning 13-3. We consider this one a good play.

A funny thing happened on the way to bet Tampa Bay, we changed our mind. Sure, the Bucs should win at home and yeah, the points don't usually come into play but man, 10 points? Last week that TD drive led by Painter to tie the score was pretty impressive. Say what you want about the difficulties the Colts have been having, but you can't say they're not trying. They signed a veteran QB in Collins, and they still have some good players on that team, and they've shown they can stop the run ... well, at least at home. It was on national TV. You gotta figure that Tampa will be glad to get out with any victory, much less a 10 point one. One thing is for sure, if the Colts starting qb can't cut it, the backup will go in. No, the Bucs don't beat the spread until they're kneeling on the ball with a 19 point lead.

Tough one to call. We'd skip it if it weren't a Monday Niter. Call it a minimum play on the road doggie. Next week it's all about science as the computer system kicks in, so keep your eyes peeled for that. And watch for our News & Notes Wednesday for late breaking news.

Ravens -4

HIT: Ravens 34 Jets 17

Last week's games should be remindful that even when you pick the right side you can lose. Nobody can say a team will be in scoring poition 6 times and come away with 6 FGs. There's nothing that predicts that. Hopefully, if we go with the wrong side tonite we'll still get the HIT. It happens all the time.

We have a little bit to go on this season even though we aren't into full computer mode. That'll come next week, but we can see that the Jets have only played one good game, and that was against the hapless Jags in New York. The Ravens have shown up for two out of three, on the road and at home. We just don't expect the Jets to play their best game so far in Baltimore. Remember, the Ravens are the team that routed the Steelers there.

There may be some rain in Baltimore but not enough to affect the outcome. There is no wind. Injuries have left the Ravens a little thin in the secondary but that's a hard area to exploit.

It's close to the start of our 'scientific' season, so we won't risk a lot on the game, especially after what happened last week. When taking the favorite, the worst thing that can happen is you losing your money and watching them celebrate a win, even if they didn't beat the spread. Let's call it another minimum play on the home favorite.

Good Luck Everyone!
